Super Snap® - The Rainbow Technique
Finishing Composite Restorations & Build
Ups - The Rainbow Technique:
Excellent Esthetics in Direct Composite build up is possible only if the finishing and polishing of the restoration is impeccable. Success in direct veneer build ups using composites is predominantly attributed to the finishing of the resin restoration. A proven, suitable finishing/polishing technique if meticulously employed can definitely predict the outcome of the aesthetic success and longevity of the resin build up. Cosmetic Dentists will agree that more than the skill required in the careful crafting of the desired morphology, the procedure of Finishing & Polishing the composite restoration will definitely mark the success of the restoration. A properly finished composite restoration can afford years of service and maintain good aesthetics for a sufficiently long time. Many different Composite Finishing and polishing devices are available in the market and do sufficiently achieve good results. Most cosmetic dentists prefer silicone polishing devices, while the majority of the others tend to prefer the use of finishing and polishing disks. Each of these have their own merits and demerits. My opinion about the various systems available are mixed. After trying out various named and known systems and having sufficiently used them, I prefer to use a system based on the following guidelines:
In my opinion, Super Snap® - Rainbow Technique, has been more than quite satisfactory when achieving desired aesthetics in my clinical practice direct resin build ups and I have been employing this particular technique for almost 7 years. I have employed other systems in the past and do employ newer systems in the present but I always tend to revert back to the Super Snap®. The ease of the system n contouring and finishing is remarkable. Practically the entire gross contouring and finishing is effortless and is merely carried out by the use of just 2 disks Coarse & Medium. Final finishing and polishing is further achieved by yet another two disks only Fine & Superfine. Here is a simple direct veneer build up case on a Upper right lateral Incisor to illustrate the result of Super Snap® - The Rainbow technique.
The results are astounding. There are proximal finishing strips are of the same colour to carry out the same steps in proximal restorations or proximal margins of the build ups.
On the whole, it saves a lot of chair-side time, very easy to
'snap on' and 'snap off', and the results are absolutely amazing. © COPYRIGHT 2005-2007 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED prodents.com |
